In the fall of 1998, Derek Snider had decided that the MUD community needed a magazine to capture the culture, knowledge and history of MUDs, and to combine the scattered resources of the MUD world into a traditional medium.

It wasn't until May of 2001 that he commenced on this project, and less than three months later, on August 10th, the first issue of The MUD Companion was sent out to the first of the subscribers.

Our goal is to make The MUD Companion an accurate representation of the MUD community as a whole, to continue to provide interesting and informative articles on all aspects of MUDding, and to showcase the skills of talented members of the MUD community.

We are currently in the process of forming affiliations with prominent sectors of the MUD community, but believe we still have a long way to go.
